Drug uses
Cialis, an oral prescription medicine, is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
How Taken
Follow your doctor's instructions precisely. Cialis is prescribed in different doses (5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg). Most men are recommended to start using Cialis with the 10 mg dose. Patients are expected to take only one dose of Cialis a day. You will be prescribed the dose that is right for you.
Warnings/Precaution
Cialis is likely to cause a sudden drop in blood pressure to a dangerous level when taken with some other drugs such as nitrates and alpha-blockers, as well as recreational drugs containing nitrates described as "poppers". The possible results of a sudden decrease in blood pressure are dizziness, fainting, heart attack or stroke. Unless you are confident with the manner Cialis affects you, be cautious when you drive or operate heavy machinery. One of Cialis's components is lactose, and that is why lactose intolerant patients should not use it. Also, when taking Cialis you are advised against drinking grapefruit juice. Using Cialis with grapefruit juice is likely to increase the possibility of experiencing unwelcome side effects. DO NOT take Cialis if you are already using drugs containing nitrates or nitric oxide, suffer from uncontrolled blood pressure (either high or low), or if you have had a stroke or heart attack.
Missed Dose
A missed dose should be taken as soon as realized. Nevertheless, if the time has almost come for the next dose, omit the dose you have missed and follow your regular dosing plan. Do not try to make up for a missed dose by taking a double one.
Possible Side Effects
The most frequent unwelcome consequences that accompany taking Cialis are headache, back pain, indigestion, flushing, muscle aches, and stuffy or runny nose. Such side effects should vanish after a couple of hours. Persons who complain about back pain and muscle aches typically start to suffer from them 12 or 24 hours after Cialis has been taken.
Back pain and muscle aches normally pass by themselves within 48 hours. You should contact your doctor if any side effect bothers you or fails to pass.
Storage
The storage temperature of Cialis is between 59 and 86 F (15 and 30 C).
Overdose
In the event of overdose, you should adopt standard supportive measures, as required.
Hemodialysis does not contribute substantially to eliminating Cialis.
More Information
Without consulting your doctor you are not allowed to change your dose of Cialis. Your dose may be lowered or raised by your doctor in relation to how you react to Cialis. Excessive alcohol drinking is forbidden when using Cialis (e.g. 5 shots of whiskey or 5 glasses of wine). Excessive concentration of alcohol in blood can raise the possibility of having a headache or feeling dizzy, increasing your heart rate or decreasing your blood pressure.
